My battery is starting to die after 4.5 years, so my wife bought a replacement for me a the Volvo dealer on her way back home. To my surprise, the battery is 600A instead of 700A and it is 2.5 inches shorter than the original one, which is 12 1/4 inches long. According to the dealer this is the right battery and the part number is 30772221 USA/Canada. I don't know if the dealer is confused between 2.4i and T5 engines.
Do you guys know my any chance the correct part number I should ask for?
Thanks!

Re: Battery part number for T5, anyone please? (gschwarz)

No thats the right battery, its really retarded though because unless yours came factory with the short battery you wont have the extended positive terminal like you need to fill the gap. Only thing i can suggest would be to have the battery all the way forward and use something to space the rear of it.

Re: Battery part number for T5, anyone please? (ForceFed Motorsports)

Thanks Kyle. I finally spoke to a more qualified Volvo parts person and said that the 700 amp battery is extremely rate in the S40, it is the standard one for the XC90. The S40 manual indicates that there are three batteries for the car depending on the options installed: 540, 600 and 700 amp. I may need an updated bracket to hold the battery because apparently they make them taller now.

Its very frustrating for the techs that install these as well because speaking for myself are usually free installs. So when i have to jimmy rig a factory volvo part to work i get a little irritated lol
Ive talked with parts numerous times as to how we can stock a correct sized battery per each different model requirement and they are stumped as well.
