I had a dead battery the other day. In the process of servicing it, I noticed that my battery does not have a bracket holding it down, except for a "lip" at the bottom backside of the battery that sort of locks it into a groove to keep it in place.

Is my V70R missing a battery hold-down or is this the way all 70s are?

note to all: When you _think_ you have a dead starter, (click-click) always try jump starting first. 10V on a battery just isn't enough to even turn the starter.

Re: Battery hold-down? (R2 Rnot)

I recently replace my battery and on the tray in the front was a clip that slid along the front lip of the tray and then into a socket on the battery. It's hard to put into words, but when I was changing the battery, it fell thru the engine compartment- it's an easy item to misplace and not realize it.

Is that a black plastic clip, about 2-3 inches wide?

Before I bought the car, the dealership had to replace the battery. I later found such a clip laying there in the battery area, and for the longest time could never figure out where that clip went to.
Good thing I saved it after all this time.
