To be honest I'd go with either the S40/V50 or the S60. You can find really good deals on them as long as you are willing to travel a bit to get it, or ship it to you. MTs are tougher to find, but they aren't impossible to get. If you want a Volvo, hold out until you find it. It took me about 4-6 months for me to find one that I really liked, and I am glad I didn't settle for some of the other mediocre deals.

Go with the Volvo! Keep waiting around, a good deal is sure to come up. Definately wait for the manual trans. if its a big deal. I waited also, and it is worth it.

Re: basicly what am i going to do (kentis19)

lol posting a what to buy poll in an enthusiast forum is only going to give a biased answer On that note, go for the s40 dude!

El Caminos are very HOT right now, definitely keep it. Then you can wait for the Ford Focus RS to come to our shores. T5 Volvo engine, 300HP, TIGHT

@ chris -oh yeah the poll was basicly just a joke i knew the results beforehand haha
@cmy4x4- (the ELKY is definitely FOR SALE) i really like my EL but honestly its not practical in my life anymore except hauling my bike (no ac two seats becoming unreliable etc )... novelty effect mostly ( i didnt expect any votes for keeping the EL to be honest, unless you guys who voted for it were joking lol)
and yeah i meant the shift times are growing slightly faster on some of the newer auto trannys, which it used to be the MTs were much faster but technology has improved the ATs
and does anyone have any expirence with the other cars listed on my "poll"

All you have to do is look at the 0-60s and you can see the difference. I think the diff between an auto S60R and an MT R for a 0-60 is more than a 1.5 seconds with volvo claiming 7.2 seconds for the auto!! Auto is more reliable for consistency but after sometime with the manual there is no comparison. Not hating on the GT guys here but I would need to drive an auto and compare before I ever believe I will be beat in the quater mile by an auto, the manual has been a blast to drive and the shifter works really well I have yet to grind a gear or miss a shift.

I have no doubt about that. I'm just saying that without the power difference, an auto would probably win if you were comparing time spent on/between shifts.
That's for another day though.
I still think you should consider my car

Re: (kentis19)

Go for the S60. It's quite a bit of car, for not much more money. Not sure if you want new or used but a few year old S60 can be had for high teens. Make sure you look around. I purchased my last car for a suburban Detroit dealer and drove it home. It was well worth the price of a plane ticket. Found it on the web and worked the deal inside of two weeks. Would def. do it again.

OK... I voted on keeping your 85 El Camino , because I didn't want to be bias at all. I remember in high school that "EL" is like the man word for "The" but what the heck does "Camino" mean (sorry , my spanish doesn't excide getting by in a Florida Wal-Mart)

Re: (carreragt7)

Bikes go really nice on or in a V50. We easily stack 2 road bikes in the car with the seats folded down, and the roof has plenty of room for 4 bikes. We have an awd manual and on the stock wheels and stock ride height it does great for getting the to far away forest service trail heads for mountain biking. Now with the 18" wheels and the heico front lip I have to slow it down on the dirt. If you do a lot of outdoor stuff the V50 is a great alternative to an SUV.
V50 all the way!!!

thanks guys for the input
@comp1-- i really like s60s they are very nice for my price range id have to be looking 01-04 about.
@v50_t5 -- were you seriously wanting me to keep my el camino just curious?
and im pretty sure it means "the road" or "the way" in spanish
v50pdx -- i first wanted a s60 then i liked the younger look of a s40 and now am leaning toward the v50 because of its versitility. i wouldnt lose the carrying capcity of my EL and would be gaining 3 seats but it all depends on the right deal that floats my way as of now money might be the biggest issue but i WILL ALWAYS opt for the volvo over the (any other car) hahaha
EDIT: One more thing... have any of you guys ever 'sourced' a vehical from a dealership?? please enlighten me on this topic thanks

Re: (kentis19)

I'm not sure about anyone else's opinion but the Mazdaspeed 3 is a fun quick car. If I was in the market for a hatchback I would throw some bucks Mazda's way as it has I believe 260 hp stock and is VERY tunable. It is a fun car to drive and has spanked my S40T5 many times.
Todd
