Well, it took all of twelve days. But the ill-fated, deceased '05 has been replaced with a lovely new '06:

Black/Atacama w/ Premium, Convenience, Climate, Michelin PS a/s on 18s, and NO sport kit.

The pix don't do it justice. My wife thinks this one is a "chick magnet", which is of no help to me, being quite happily married.

Many thanks to Yannis and the folks at Stillman for quickly finding and putting me in the exact replacement R that I was looking for (at a great price), and to JRL for kindly assisting in the tire choice. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

The insurance carrier's performance on the total was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise as well.

I couldn't be happier, considering the circumstances.

Looks great.

What's with the whole slew of buttons. Are most of them dummy buttons?

Only a few button blanks. The reverse warning sensor adds an extra button for '06.

Great car. The resizing of the pictures looks dodgy... Not anti-aliased. The black interior mats are fantastic! They take away the loudness of the interior and match nicely with the dashboard. I think I might get some. At the moment my car (to be picked up) has those orange carpet mats which are putting the Sun out of business.

Is there a difference in the dashboard colour between MY04 and MY05/06?

I'm sure my dashboard is not as black as yours.

I've never noticed any difference.
I'm not very good at photo work, but the original photos look much better than the posted ones. The many contrasts between black and atacama look sharp.

Blanks? Mine is smooth, with no blanks. All I have is DSTC, folding headrests, valet...then smooth.

I'm thinking that with the reverse warning sensor switch, you have to fit a larger blank panel, one that you would use on a Euro car with more options. Since he probably only has one more switch than you, he's got more blanks.

Your plate is sized for 3 switches. The next one up is probably 5 or 7.

Just guessin' but seems logical.

Yes, it is.
We had lunch yesterday, it's a beautiful R especially since it's shod with 18" Michelin PS All Seasons right from the get go http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Back in the Saddle Again. (pino)

The dead one was the '05 shade of silver with gobi and sport kit. Very nice, very sleek, an open and airy feeling. But plagued with misfortune from the day of delivery. The front spoiler was a royal PITA to live with.

This '06 comes across as more masculine and purposeful, even without the sport kit. I really wanted the atacama, and think the S60 body looks best in black, despite the pains of owning that color. The contrast is vivid.

It's NOT straight black, though. Looking at it in the glare of the garage lights, there IS some sapphire metallic flake in it. But on the road, it's "black".
