After a 2 year absence from R ownership, it's great to be back! I've been behind the wheel of a Volvo since 1995 with my first car, a fantastic white-on-black 1994 850 Turbo (sold and deeply missed). I joined the R forum back in 2008 after stumbling across Mash's silver 2004 GT in the classifieds. It was one hell of a ride but a job transfer and changing financial priorities at the time led me to sell it to a local family back in the summer of 2010. The R's departure left a performance void my 940 Turbo simply couldn't fill, and with more money to play with this go-around, I picked up a real nice one a few weeks ago from the folks at Hassel Volvo in Long Island, NY. This is a 2005 GT (not going to think about a stick in St. Louis) in Magic Blue-on-Nordkap, 43K miles, one-owner. The condition is such that the leather still looks & smells like new and there's nee a scratch on it. Drives like its on rails. I'll be adding a few mods as time goes on and I'm really, really excited about being back to the forum. Anyways, have a great weeked guys  & here's a few pics I snapped this afternoon. -Scott Nauert, St. Louis, MO

Thanks!! I'll admit, originally I wasn't sure about how I'd take to Magic Blue, but once you see it in person, the photographs just don't do it justice - it really is beautiful.

I love magic blue except for when direct sunlight hits it and it becomes Barney purple :p

Welcome back to the R world. Do I spot Heico wheels? :D

Yeah it is really different. Luckily I don't notice that Barney purple prienzo mentions. Lol.

St Louis eh? Not bad, not bad...

but why no stick in St Louis, it isn't THAT bad now?

National Volvo Meet is tomorrow at the upper Muny parking lot in Forest Park, you should stop by, it's free to visit.

Nice to see another local R owner!

Really?! I'd love to! Yeah, gonna stick with an auto here. There's too many stop signs and out-of-sync stoplights (I believe we are officially the worst in the US), plus traffic on I-64

Yep, pretty much all day, over 100 cars are going to be there...I think i'm the only R entered though...but definitely stop on by and check it out!

I-64 is pretty bad, I usually can avoid it though since I work near my home out in Chesterfield, only have to watch out for those stoplights, which yes I agree are the worst of anywhere I've ever driven...

When I saw the thread title I thought GiRaff3 was the thread starter.

Very nice car, though. Love those rims.
Haha.. I think the last time I was on here, he was trying to sell a heavily-modded 855 R (looked grrrrr8!). Hope you've been well - we still gotta grab a brew next time I'm in Cali.

Yeah the folks are in C'field, work is in Madison, IL, so I'm always somewhere in the middle of the chaos. Just had a few Pegs straightened out on my 940 after meeting a pothole just north of the McFitty-Cent bridge

Ouch that's a huge pain. All the bridges are crap around town though, I have to take them at a crawling pace to avoid cringing over the potholes and metal lips, the 18's are more of an annoyance than a benefit, but they look good so I guess they'll stay until they're bent beyond repair.

If you ever need any help with work on your R hit me up, i'm always willing to help a local fellow enthusiast.

Yep and when the City of STL or MODOT's potholes bomb your wheels, they run & hide when you ask them to pay. I'll drop by the VCOA meet tomorrow. I live in Clayton, so I'm really close. I think I remember them advertising the STL meet a while back but I've been so tied up with work lately it slipped my mind. I think I've seen your R around town - there aren't that many and especially in silver w/sport kit

I used to work at Hassel Volvo and they are a great group of people. Who was your salesperson? Carrie? I hope so, she's great. Congrats! I just bought my '07 GT in Magic blue /Nordcap 2 months ago with 36k miles.

There is actually one other silver R with the sport kit in town, he also has a FMIC. I'm certain he isn't on these forums though. His is also an 05+ while mine has the black trim signature of the 04's. R's are certainly a rare sight around here, but with any luck I'll see you out on the road sometime.

I've never actually tried to get MODOT to pay for damaged wheels, I always just assumed they wouldn't...
