It’s a mild hybrid. It will use 48v system to regenerate power when braking. That’s all. Fuel efficiency will be better. That’s all.

In addition, Volvo is introducing mild hybrids, for the XC90 and XC60 models with diesel engines, apparently, the petrol version will later follow suit. In the future, they will be recognisable by a new nomenclature “B” and should provide customers with fuel savings of up to 15 per cent and a reduction in CO2 emissions.

Come on, you find it before us. :)

From the numbers, torque is much less than diesel based B5, so it is petro engine. But the torque is higher than T6. It is 300HP, barely less than 310HP T6. So it is probably T6 based mild hybrid.

CO2 emission number is not availavable. So it is probably still not formally used in production cars.

Otherwise we don't know much.

And forget about power and acceleration, the sole purpose of mild hybrid is for fuel saving.

Anyhow, the motor added on B5 diesel is 10kW electric motor capable of delivering an additional 40Nm of torque when required. It is just tiny, can be safely ignored.

Even the CISG on T8 provides 46 HP (34 kW) 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) of extra torque. I thought they could just use CISG in mild hybrid to simplify manufacturing but seems they don't.

B6 is based on T6. Off course new engine and Volvo offer 10hp less, again. Remember first T6 was 320 hp.

Hey

Anybody know full tech info about mild-hybrid B6?

It is available at https://www.volvocars.com/intl/build/suv/xc60/inscription#engines

300 hp / 420 Nm

But :
- electro engine? how many HP from it ?
- acceleration speed

Thank you
This is for B5 Diesel and B4 Diesel...

STRANGELY, although B5 is specced as 245hp/520Nm, B4 is still 190hp/400Nm.

The BISG delivers 14 PS (10 kW; 14 hp) at 3000 rpm and 50 N⋅m (37 lb⋅ft) of torque between 0–2300 rpm. Twin turbochargers.

I have the B4 and its plenty quick. The battery really comes into its own when you put your foot down. No turbo lag

B4 197 hp (diesel)
B5 235 hp (diesel)
B5 245 hp (gasoline)
B6 300 hp (gasoline)

Update engine with facelift V/S90 in 2020

B4 197 hp (diesel)
B5 220 hp (diesel)
B5 230 hp (gasoline)
B6 285 hp (gasoline)

With all new XC90 in 2021/2022 we could excpet another 10-15% less of power.

Source in Volvo.de has exactly the same information as I wrote. Next year Volvo will introduce facelift V/S90 as a 2021 model, again with little less powerfull engine. Year later with new XC90 Volvo will do the same, cut a little power their engines.

Hello, Please see my findings below.
Configurator shows 235hp, but if you go to XC90 or XC60 and look at “explore”, then go to “specifications” then go to “features” and “performance” you will verify.
This is from Volvo International site and my local site - GR.

Volvo says its 235hp/480Nm in the configurator ,BUT on its website mentions

Volvo Website: 245Hp/520Nm

https://www.volvocars.com/intl/cars/...5-813a89a30828

B5 AWD, 245hp/520Nm
This powerful electrified diesel powertrain B5 AWD with Mild-Hybrid technology gives you high performance and a refined drive while lowering your CO2 emissions. By recovering energy generated by braking and supporting the diesel engine, the Mild-Hybrid technology helps to use fuel more efficiently. It also adds to a more comfortable driving experience. The engine restarts instantly and you can enjoy smoother acceleration from standstill.

Wikipedia:
D420T2 / D4204T2[edit]
The D420T2 / D4204T2[166] (K2) delivers 235 PS (173 kW; 232 hp) at 4000 rpm and 480 N⋅m (350 lb⋅ft) of torque between 1750–2250 rpm. The BISG delivers 14 PS (10 kW; 14 hp) at 3000 rpm and 50 N⋅m (37 lb⋅ft) of torque between 0–2300 rpm. Twin turbochargers.

This engine is only available with the AWF8G55 gearbox.

Emissions level Euro 6d-TEMP.

Applications:

2020–present Volvo XC60 II badged as XC60 B5 AWD[183]
2020–present Volvo XC90 II badged as XC90 B5 AWD[184][185]

Notice that they mention the initial Hp as 232hp and not 235hp.

On other reviews i have read the ''HP generated by the 48v battery'' is 14hp/50Nm plus 235hp = 249hp

Interestingly, the information is different from the links I posted in a previous post
It's also a Volvo international website
Also Volvo Germany and the UK provide the same data

I know.
Volvo Greece and 1-2 more regional volvo sites are alligned with Volvo Intl.
Could be a mistake, but it’s strange that they made a mistake on Volvo Intl instead of a regional site.
