i was thinking of putting the B234 head on a B230 block and i was wondering what i would need to do this and about how much do you think this would cost? i was also wondering were i could get one of these heads because they are fairly rare.
thanks
It's simple and cheap...compared to a V8 swap. However, I would call it difficult and expensive.
You need:
B234F 16V head, complete
B234F intake manifold
B234F exhaust manifold
relief cuts in pistons
custom t-belt tensioner & t-belt
possibly fuel system modifications
gearing changes to utilize the power band efficiently
I'm probably forgetting some parts, but that's a start. Expect to pay $100-$400+ for just a 16V head. $20-50ea. for the manifolds. I don't know what it costs to pull the pistons and have them machined, or to just have B234F pistons installed. The t-belt tensioner can be bought for $100 from a guy in Australia. Then there are the miscellaneous bits and pieces needed to finish the job.
I would do a turbo swap instead.
