Sound boost gauges?

I posted this awhile back
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=112067
You have to scroll like 3/4ths of the way down to see the final product, at first I painted it with regular paint. Took that off, and repainted it with a rubberized truck bed liner paint, worked out, and looks alot better. Was a pain to run the wire and tubing from where I mounted it though.....If I had to do it again, I wouldn't! I'd try to keep it somewhere on the dash.
Im going with a Garrett boost gauge personally, accuracy is spot on and a decent looking bezel. I order most of my forced induction parts from ATP turbo since i have an account but they have good deals none the less

Glowshift makes great gauges for a good price. A good place to mount the gauge is in the drivers side vent. http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=123256

It's a great place, and if all goes well the next month or so I can produce a few. Maybe I will make it the project for my class.

That is cool. Next you can hook an MBC up to the vent control to adjust the boost.

Odds are it has an electronic sending unit. I like those but prefer a dial gauge over an electronic read out.

there was an epic thread about 2 years back about a member named laser8302 and his digital boost gauge project.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=86592

Re: BOOSt gAuges (40 Rouge)

Yah, I saw his (laser's) gauge on a GTG we had here in MI. Looked good, if you want a digital gauge, he's def. the guy to talk to. I prefer the analog gauges myself though, just like the sweep of the needle better.
I'm also using a glowshift gauge. Cheap, works well, reads the right boost. If it goes, or I tune and need a "better" or more accurate gauge, then maybe I'll change it. For now, it works perfect though.

I know where AJ is planning on mounting his gauge It'll be cool to see the results of it, and how he likes the end result, I'm definitely interested.

EDIT: and idea I had back when laser was promoting his gauge, would be to mount it to the dash, and use it like a HUD. I know 3M or somebody makes transparent film, the kind they use for current HUDs in cars. Might require cutting the dash though....and getting the display to run in a mirrored mode, if thats even possible with the current setup.

Yeah, there are 4 or so people who are in the know. Not really a secret but it is fun making it mysterious, lol. I am hoping to hit these projects hard soon. Smaller sized projects are a TON easier than bigger ones.

Hahah, yah, more satisfying. It makes you feel like you actually accomplished something, because you get it done quicker, and you can do a few of em at a time.

LOL. I've been trying to recruit a fellow fanatic to help me out, but it seems like everyone I give swedespeed cards to never responds. My Bimmer buddy has been helping me on some stuff but he and I have been uber busy the last few weeks. Just got my portfolio turned in yesterday to continue on in my major, so now I have a little more time. If only some of you guys lived closer you could lend some hands.
