Reminded me that ever since I had my Angle Gear replaced earlier this year (about 4 months ago), I hear a muted "tock!" sound when engaging 1st and 2nd gear (sometimes makes the sound with clutch pedal pushed in, but most of the time makes the sound when clutch pedal is in process of being released)
In 2004, I had the axle ping problem, had it fixed with loctite, and was fine until now. However, I seem to recall the axle ping sound I had in 2004 was more of a "click" than a "tock". I've already replaced my lower tranny mount with a new OEM, so that's not it.
I also seem to recall that when replacing the angle gear, I think the dealer has to remove at least one of the front hub/axle assemblies, no? If so, wonder if this caused the loctited axle bolts to require re-loctiting (if so, i'll just order the XC90 bolts).
But before I assume this is the issue, has any one that's replaced an angle gear had a similar situation?
