Hey, I am having traction problems in the snow. Front wheels are spinning nothing from the rear. Is there a way to tell if the awd is working correctly.

Pretty much what you are describing is proof that your AWD isn't working. Now what is wrong with it is the question. The easiest place to start is to get a VIDA scan at the dealer, or purchase a black market unit and do it yourself to see if there are any stored codes. The other check to perform is the Jim Lill's test

I have posted this within threads, but it gets lost. So here it is again.
If you suspect an angle gear or any AWD issue...
1- jack up one (only) front wheel
2 - put car in neutral
3 - by hand, turn the wheel in the air
4 - observe drive shaft, it should turn
If 4 fails, the angle gear or transmission is faulty.
Method used here -> http://forums.swedespeed.com/z...04389

Thank you Antherzoll. With the front wheel spin I knew the awd had to be down. No stored fault codes for the transmission in VIDA. I will look at the angle gear.
