So, I lost AWD on the R about 2 weeks ago. Diagnosed as a faulty control module. So, they ordered it, and went to put the new one in, but (according to them)...
The old one was mounted with cross-threaded bolts at the factory, one (or more) heads broke off, and they could not "get an edge" to remove the bolts, and now they are having to order a whole AWD unit.
Does the control module really bolt directly on to the AWD unit?
Is there anyway to remove a bunch of cross-threaded bolts for less expense than for them to order an entire new AWD unit? (like drill and tap it??)
Is my dealership making up a ridiculous story to cover up the fact they completely misdiagnosed the problem, and have been sitting on the car for a week waiting for the wrong parts?? (I know that may seem ridiculous, but this is the same dealership that told me a steering wheel coming off was an "adjustment" not covered under warranty, and that I would need to pay for it). I think they know if they screw up another repair on my car, I will be escalating the poop out of the issue.
To make me even more suspicious - my dealership NEVER has their 1 of their 2 loaner cars (yes, the cheap bastards only have 2 loaners, and they do not run a shuttle more than about 15 miles from the dealership) available for me (I did not buy the car from them), but they committed to having one BEFORE I even asked. (In fact, thats how they called to tell me - "Hey, we wanted to let you know when your loaner will be available to pick up, because your car will not be ready...)
So, are they full of crap? Does this sound believable??
