I took my sister to work today on this 30 mile straight stretch of highway that had a speed limit of 75 mph. I got up to cruising speed and set the cruise control. I then reset my average gas mileage to see how I was doing. I expected the gas mileage to be less than average at that speed. Imagine my surprise when I ended up averaging 24.5 mpg. I have seen it get as high as 25 in the past few weeks.
Ever since I started using Castrol Syntec 5W-30 full synthetic oil, my gas mileage has improved dramatically. Has anybody else seen similar gains?

I only averaged 13.5 mpg on my last tank...
Course, a trip to the ring and some bursts to 150 mph will do that...

I was traveling up to Denver from Colorado Springs some time last year and after reseting the average gas mileage, I got up to 31.5 mpg before I got off the freeway.
I got that number twice!! Although it takes a lot of self-control. I average about 22 right now. (about 350 miles on the last tank).
Time to bring those numbers down.

I have been averaging 24-25 mpg for the last 19k miles, since I bought the car used 19 months ago.

I easily pulled in the high 20s in my '05 on the interstate at "brisk" speeds. Too early to tell how the '06 would do, but I expect the same. I imagine an ECU timing for 93 octane helps some, too.
It's around town and more than light acceleration that absolutely kills mileage. Lots of weight to bring up to speed and plenty of turbo action going on.

I just did a weekend trip from LA to SF - and on the 5 highway, averaging 85 mph, I got an average of 25.9. AT 85!! And people were passing. It was Easter Weekend or i would have gone faster...but too many highway patrol for my taste.

Sure beats my 12.5 average in LA city traffic.

Last weekend I averaged 25 mpg with Rhode Island gas (no ethanol) at 75 mph and 4 people (725 lbs). I have seen a little better with myself in the car, but I bet I could see near 30 if I lived in the flatlands.

That's about right.
I did the same thing at 60mph and did around 29 mpg, UNTIL.... I stepped on the gas ONCE and it PLUNGED

At 75mph my instant mpg on the computers says 21.5mpg tops! 95% of my driving is on the highway at that speed. I get at most 275 miles per tankfull. If I am driving around town I get 14-15mpg.

My car is indicating an average of 23.5 right now. I've been doing a lot of highway driving. It will drop down to about 20.8 or so when I get to "normal" driving.
I think these are pretty decent numbers. 300 HP and roughly 23-25 MPG. I've heard that a lot of STi drivers are getting mileage in the 15-17 range on the average.

I get 17-18MPG on my daily commute (which is 60%+ freeway with a 60MPH limit). Thing is, I go 80-100MPH and accelerate WOT every chance I get after the engine is warmed up. And I only have a T5, so no AWD to suck up MPG either. And no, nothing is wrong with my car, if I just cruise at 55-65MPH, I get 28-32MPG.
I'm glad y'all drive so slowly, leaves more gas in the world for me
