I have a 1999 V70XC with 157K with the original front mcpherson struts. I have to replace the right front mount which is cracked. While I am repairing this is it recommended that I go ahead and replace the struts? I am not sure what the average span is for these parts? Any advice is appreciated.

Your struts are 100% JUNK.
Life expectancy is from 70K to 110K depending on the raods the car was driven on.
Northeast type roads, they're fried at 70K. On Fl roads they may last way over 110K miles as the roads are smooooooooooooth!

As a rule, I've always replaced shocks, struts, springs, rotors and pads (etc...) in pairs.
It's a symmetry ( and an "I don't want to mess with this again anytime soon" ) thing...

Definitely replace the struts with those miles and use the reinforced strut mounts that are available now- who knows you might get 200k out of them next time!
