I am really interested in purchasing a new 2007 C70. As everyone knows, there seems to be very limited availability. Is this just marketing? Does anyone know if the market will open up a bit? If I want one of these babies, will I be able to get one? I don't mind a 6 month wait. I guess what I want to know is what is the real scoop and will I be able to get one of these if I want one (in a 6 speed manual) in a reasonable amount of time (6 months or so) if I wait much longer.
Re: availability (basirico)

I've read somewhere that Volvo is raising the productioncapacity so the long waiting should shorten a bit in the future...

Re: availability (basirico)

As concerns the availability of C70's for immediate delivery, there are a number of them in stock at Volvo dealers throughout the US. However, most of them are automatics, since dealers tend to order "stick" shift units on an "order only" basis. In fact, there are even some 2007 C70's sitting on dealer lots today, ready for delvery. If you are open on exterior and interior colors, as well as options, and are willing to accept an automatic, you could take delivery of a new C70 this week. If you do not have the time, an auto broker may be helpful in locating you a car for a small fee. Good luck.

Re: availability (VolvoMax)

Like many of you, I have committed to purchasing a new C70. I am, what I consider, an educated retail buyer, not a salesman nor affilliated with any dealership. The sole purpose of my last post was to provide accurate, unbiased information, encouragement and real world advise to those C70 enthusiasts, like myself, who are sincerely interested and ready to purchase one of these wonderful cars. Without criticizing the motives or hidden agendas of any person responding on this forum, I will say that auto dealers are in the business of "selling cars." If a Volvo dealer has a new C70 in stock, (excluding demos which are usually held in service for a specified period of time before being sold), on the ground and ready to be sold, you can "buy it now." If there are no C70's available, then you have the option of ordering one to your specs and waiting for delivery stateside or you may choose OSD. If you are willing to purchase a 2006 C70, want to save time and are flexible with your colors and options, do yourself a favor and spend a little time and effort investigating what's available before you accept a 4 - 6 month delivery option, unless of course, you only want a 2007 model and/or a manual tranny.
Today (8-1-06), between 11am - 1pm, I did a brief random sampling of C70 availability by simply going online and calling a few of the 60 or so Volvo dealers who indicated that they had C70's in stock. Understandably, some of the dealers had already sold their advertised units, but many still had C70 inventory. Again, I am not recommending or endorsing any dealer, just giving you the FACTS...... At Don Beyer Volvo in Alexandria, Va., I spoke to Chris Chikes, who told me that they have an '06, passion red/calcite....Brian Hand at Star Motors in Houston told me that they have an '06, black/black.....at Bill Kidd Volvo in Baltimore, Wayne Cernic told me they have two '06 C70's, silver/offblack and a flint grey.....at Volvo Village in Clearwater, Fl., Karen said they have two in stock, a flint grey and a magic blue.....and for those of you looking for a 06 zanzibar gold, Ian Pitkoff said that one had just arrived at Ferman Volvo in tarpon Springs, Fl. This just goes to show that these cars, although a very hot sales item, are not as scarce as some people would lead you to believe.
Finally, I saved the best for last. If anybody out there is serious today about purchasing one of the first NEW Volvo 2007 C70's in the USA, silver/offblack, auto, premium package, bi-xenons, dynaudio with 17" wheels, sitting on the ground at a Volvo dealership, ready for immediate delivery, you may email me [email protected] This car will not last long.
I hope the info that I have provided will help all of you future "fellow C70 owners" make an intelligent, rational buying decision, not based on hearsay or misinformation. GOOD LUCK...

Modified by stevevc7 at 1:46 PM 8-1-2006

Re: availability (stevevc7)

There certainly are some in-stock units out there.... Some dealers are not reselling cancelled orders, they are just waiting until they come in to sell them on a first-come, first-served basis....
We also have some local dealers attempting to add 'chicago market adjustment' fees to the c70's when they come in.... They can do this because the customer did not demand a written agreement upon order.... Obviously, anybody with any self-respect isn't going to take a $2,500 surcharge on a car they have had a deposit on for months... These cars become available at that point... They are then scotchguarded, undercoated and accessorized and sold to the guy who doesn't want to wait...
Just goes to show how important it is to buy from a reputable dealer...

Re: availability (VolvoMax)

Actually Santa Monica Volvo has one (1) while Westside Volvo has three (3) of them. However the one at Santa Monica has a $10k market adjustment added to it... asking price is $58K and change.... what a joke.
