Anyone replace their factory automatic shift knob? There are a TON of manual ones but has anyone replaced their auto?

Re: Automatic GT Shift Knob Replacement? (slowrey)

Any Auto Knob with a button should be a direct replacement ... the reason I think you don't see it more I think, is because many that are offered may NOT be an improvement, but moreover, just a change.
I have rigged a manual only shift knob to work on a pushbutton style shifter ... it involved a piece of PVC pipe and a couple of set screws. You had to push down on the entire knob to be able to shift from park to another gear. I am sure I could make the same system work on the R, but how disconcerning would a "floating" knob be while using the geartronic ?

I love that shifter. The only bad thing is that it is all metal. Very hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

I hace installed an BMW stick instead of space ball knob. And connected the buttuon to the active chassis buttons with a 2 seconds delaying circuit. When I hold the button for 2 seconds,it changes to sport-advanced-comfort.
The aluminium finish perfect matched with R's finish.

Can you show us what you used to make the circuit. I'm sure there will be many of us who would love to move the buttons to another location.
What you did with your knob is a very trick idea.
