My wifes car just presented this new issue this afternoon. If you pulll up the switch for the drivers-side window to bring the window up it goes up all the way and then goes all the way back down. The auto-up function is not working.<p>Has anyone had this issue and if so, is it a simple window switch replacement? <p>Thanks,<p>JH

Re: Auto up/down window switch (enVious)

Happened to my xc90 as well. Dealer said the battery got drained from inactivity and the ECU reset, so they had to do something to the ECU, maybe reset the function. Not really sure if the battery thing was really the problem, but they resolved it by reprogramming the computer.

I guess I'll head back to the dealer for the third time.

Check to make sure there are no foreign objects or bits of debris jammed up inside the window tracks. Cleaning out the window tracks if needed, could save a dealer visit.<p>What's happening is that the auto-up function employs anti-pinch sensing which will reverse the motion of the window glass if any foreign object(s) like, say, one's hand gets in the way before said window glass has fully closed.

Re: Auto up/down window switch (enVious)

Yep, it's most likely the pinch sensor out of alignment. Had this problem once, can't remember why, it just started happening ('05 XC90, driver's side). Think you'll find, if you move the switch and hold it (or twitch it) once it's up, it will stay up but auto will not work on it's own. While techs were sorting this out, one of them mentioned the possibility of holding the button in up position after window closes for 45 seconds or so. Think this works for the rears and may work for the fronts but it was near closing for the dealer and there wasn't too much time to play with it. At any rate, after a few failed attempts, VADIS window reset was the answer but there was some talk that holding it might have in fact resolved the issue. Been awhile but that's what I recall and could be worth a try before heading back to the dealer...
