Aisin Warner makes the 5-speed adaptive automatic and 5-speed adaptive Geartronic for the new 60/70 series Volvo's. This includes the 2.4, 2.4T, and T5. The S80 uses a GM 4-speed adaptive automatic and 4-speed adaptive Geartronic transmission, which is also the shortest transmission in the world.

I think that Aisin Warner also makes the 5-speed manual for the new 60/70 series Volvo's, but I am not exactly sure.

I think that this transmission is exclusive to Volvo since Aisin Warner has had a very long term relationship with Volvo Cars. As far as I know they have been making transmissions for Volvo since the early 80's. I am sure someone else knows more about this.

I wonder how long GM will supply the transmissions for the S80, since the S80 does need something very special because it has a transverse inline-6. Fortunatly for Volvo, GM makes some of the best tranmissions in the world, and BMW makes good use of them.
