I met Boosted on Saturday night at the Atlanta Tuner Event at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce GA. There must have been at least 90 to 100 cars there racing down the quarter mile.
I decided to run the beast to see what it would do. Atlanta Dragway is known to be a real slow track.
My first run was a 13.548 with a trap speed of 99.648. Temp was around 77 degrees at about 10pm and the humidity had to be high because we were fighting sprinkles almost all night. They told me I either needed to slow it down to 14 secs or more or get a helmet. I could do one more sub 14 second run and then I would have to shut her down for the night.
My second run was a throwaway as I tried to shift it on the gears and with the new turbo and power braking at the line (holding 18psi of boost) I could not make the 1st to 2nd shift fast enough to not bounce it off the limiter and since that ruined it I just eased it down to strip to make sure I was more than 14 seconds.
Then it rained. So I waited till almost 2am and made one more run and I got it about as perfect as I am going to get at Commerce. 13.285 at 102.605 mph. Hardly any spin at launch as instead of holding the accelerator to the floor while power braking the launch, I was going from 1/2 to 3/4 accelerator while holding the brake to the floor. Pretty good for an automatic 4300 lb car on a slow track.
Boosted said that at Silver Dollar Dragway in southern Georgia (known to be a fast track) that would have probably been a 12.8 run.
Thought you guys would like to know that our little grocery getter outruns S2000's with turbos, Civics with turbos, and RX-8's with turbos.
