Re: Atacama Headrest Monitors for sale (pktojd)

Can you buy just one or only in pairs? If I could hook this up to a Sony portable DVD, I'd be up for it. But 50 orders might be pushing it.

Edit: Looks like they are only discounting the Atacama as well with 50 orders.

I didn't think that you could get Atacama hides any longer. I recall Don had a lot of difficulty doing this when he had them made for his '07. and certainly not for that price...

Re: Atacama Headrest Monitors for sale (Needsdecaf)

Indeed. I also did the project about 4 months too early... had I bought a set from Volvo (rather than Heico) and then had the hide covers stitched, I could have saved some real money. But the results were great nonetheless. I can't believe it's been two years now... the last of the Rs.

I still have what's left of the hide I got from Bridge of Weir in Scotland. Since I'm still a slave to the train commute, I'm not sure what to do with the R now... tunes, toys (hidden 9500i is top of my list), or sell... it has 5,500 miles now and I'm looking for reasons to keep it. Or sell it.

atacama sucks.

I've actually OWNED all three R leathers and find the Atacama the best in terms of feel, and appearances. I think it'll hold-up better too in the long-run. Lexol will help.

Re: Atacama Headrest Monitors for sale (24Hours)

BTW... unless you buy an actual OEM hide, you will NOT have a perfect match on the color or texture of what you are looking to match. When I dropped $5k to get my RSE done, it was told to me from the shop who did the install that even though they are a top 3 shop in the US, they could not provide an exact match to the OEM Atacama. This is why I contacted the manufacturer in Scotland and imported the LAST hide they intended to make...

As always: Caveat Emptor.

Don,

Who did you contact at Bridge of Weir? Would you still have their contact information? I'm looking to see if they will either custom stitch door panels and seat covers or sell me the hides in the Volvo Chesnut Brown soft leather for the XC60 I have on order. Heico quoted $18,000 for the interior as well as some other goodies but I nearly had a heart attack.

BTW, keep the R!

No joke: the woman who helped me locate the last Atacama hide (not allocated to Volvo) has since left the company. I recommend you call them, say lots of "pleases" and "thank yous" and someone is bound to help you. I think I even bribed her for access to the hide, and she finally got ahold of the one I got.

That Chestnut Brown is very cool. Todd at Heico is working with the shop that did my install, and who I would like to have install the hidden 9500 radar /laser shifting system into the rear view mirror, but money is tight. That shop (AI Design) is among the very best in the country and few places can top their work. Todd also knows what he is talking about and will quote high knowing that the prices can easily get there when it's all done. My headrest covers alone were a grand....

Thanks and good luck at BoW.

Cheers

I'm most likely going to have Seatco of Bailey's Crossroads do the work if we REALLY decide to go this route. They're the only shop nationwide that does RR/B warranty work and they do a lot of Pebble Beach/Meadowbrook/Amelia Island/St. Michaels concours cars. Their prices (labor wise) are amazingly reasonable. They also have the special thread that's used for stitching on the seat cover sides that house airbags, etc. so that's a huge peace of mind for me.

I'm wondering if BoW sells Volvo Cars the covers already cut or just the hides? If they can cut the hides and stitch them together to make ready made inserts, that'll dramatically reduce the $18k quote I received.
