Had my car parked on the street this weekend and look what surprise I had waiting for me!!

Thankfully the driver was thoughtful enough to leave a note with their info along with a copy of their insurance card (which I assume they made a copy of around the corner at the mini-mart). One less piece of drama to deal with I guess, but still!!

I'm guessing she came off the freeway too fast and there was another car coming up the street and pretty much bounced off my left rear wheel. She was driving an Isuzu Rodeo.

So the left wheel/axle are gone, door destroyed, rear quarter panel damaged but thankfully she didn't hit the trunk and the frame is not bent so it's fixable. The door still opens, btw :D

The car was also slammed into the curb on the right so both wheels/rims on that side were damaged beyond repair as well (so yay new rims/tires!). The right rear wheel is also bent inwards slightly.

I should know the full scope next week after the body shop takes it all apart.

Sorry man. Great that she left a note, too bad it's probably totalled :( I see some pretty damning damage there. Def fixable, but prob not by your insurance co's figures. That sucks.

As far as I am concerned, you just won the accident lottery. NO ONE leaves a note anymore. Sucks to deal with but you hit the odds on the 1:10,000,000 people that are decent/accountable in this country.

That's a total bummer -

However, it IS comforting to know that there are still SOME responsible folks out there...

Hope the repair estimates bring you good news (or at least, less bad news than you were expecting)

Yeah, that's nothing. Definitely not enough to total it. Should be around 10k in damages, with the largest chunk coming from fixing the panel rear of the door. Hopefully you can make INS and the shop replace the panel instead of bondo-ing it

A few years back my brother saw someone hit a parked car, he went over, a crowd gathered and the guy wrote all his info on a note and put it on the car and left. My brother was waiting for someone, 15 minutes later the guy came back and threw the note in the trash can and left again. My brother went over the the trash can, fished out the note and put it back on the car. People will generally only leave a note if there's a bunch of witnesses.

What a bummer, at least you were hit by an honorable person, those folks are hard to find these days.

Beautiful Sonic wagon BTW

Thats a bummer :(. I had a similar experience passing through Mississippi a few weeks ago. An elderly guy hit my rental van at my hotel. I came out just as he was leaving the note. Im glad there are still honest folks out there. I wish a speedy recovery for your wagon! Hope it comes back good as new.

Wow.. the only reason she left a note was because she could not get over how sexy a sonic blue V70R is.. and then she felt horrible for damaging such a beautiful car.

Good luck with all the repairs man!

Mine was just as bad, they cut and welded a new quarter panel in, and replaced the door.

IF they say it's totaled, and they are calling for "new" quarter and door, tell them to do an estimate for used parts, and it should turn out the same.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not hoping that this poor man's R is totaled, I just wouldn't be surprised. The indy I spent 12yrs at was built on buying and fixing total-loss Volvos. ALL of mine including my R were considered total-loss, and obviously you can fix just about anything. How well it is done is a whole other discussion entirely.lol

Wow, that's some serious damage. I'll just echo the others' statements and say good job on her (and you) for leaving the note.

I've been a witness to three accidents in the last year, in two of them the obvious at-fault party lied to the cops. Thankfully I was there.

Yes totally! I was totally amazed she actually made a copy of her insurance card too! Makes the process a whole lot eaiser; still sucks though
