Only recently have I had the need for more room in my car. I like my car now, and theres nothing out there that can satisfy me as my car does now, so i'm thinking about going to a v70R. The thing is, I know taht a wagon has more 'meat' so is it slower, worse on gas, or heavier around turns, or is that just the numbers on paper??

ps-looking for a v70 R
pps, i'd also like to see some photos of silver or titanium Vs!!

My wife's 2006 V70R feels faster than my 2005 S60R when it was bone stock. I can't explain it but I drive the cars back-to-back and it is absolutely noticeable; especially in the low to midrange portion of the powerband.
Just my butt dyno but...
Regards,
Derek
2006 has Instant Traction. It will not have as significant a bogg on start. It should feel a bit faster on some starts. If you time everything just right on previous models it should be equal. Anyway those were my impressions when driving both.
BTW the V has a trac more on the oversteer side than the S. But nothing dramatic. You can feel it though.

Unless you truly live your life 1/4 mile at a time, the advantages of a wagon over sedan really do outweigh any true or perceived loss in 0-60 times. Take advantage of the fact that Volvo offers an athletic wagon with a 6MT - there aren't many auto makers that do this anymore.

In numbers the V is a lot slower compared to an S. Overall the V has better weight distribution and better brake balance but it doesn't feel as much "alive" as the S does.

V70R vs. S60R speed depends on the driver!
My TiGray V70R was FAST at our track event on Tuesday, and a photo of it is here.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=63447
I even passed an S60R, so my wagon must be faster...

Re: Are Wagons generally slower that sedans?? (Dj Schmidty)

According to the Volvo USA website, the V70R weighs 3689 lbs and the S60R weighs 3715 lbs.
I'm very skeptical of those numbers -- I'd guess the additional weight of the wagon at about 200 pounds - glass weighs a lot - but that's what the Volvo website says.
(Maybe it's the carbon-fiber roof and hood on the '07 V70s??? )

I don't know the numbers, BUT, if I had a dime for every time a wagon blew past me while I'm doing 100mph++ on the Autobahn, I'd be a friggin millionaire. This is not an exaggeration. In fact, it's become a running joke.
