My 2008 S40's bi xenon head lights seem to shine really low. I can only see about 1 and a half car lengths out. Driving 40+mph it gets a little dangerous. My dealer says they are non adjustable......I find that hard to believe. Any advice? Many thanks!

Re: Are Bi Xenon head lights adjustable? (SkagSig40)

Haha, that's what my dealer said. It'd be crazy that a car of this cost would have non-adjustable headlights. It would make no sense. Anyways, when you take our the headlight from the car, the knob farther to the outside of the car will aim the headlight up and down. The other knob will aim the left to right of the light. Hope this helps.

I've tried to adjust mine with the little screw in the picture and then by removing the light assembly and using a wrench from the side. All I got was the dreaded click, click, click noise and can see that the plastic worm gears are shredded. My opinion is...They are not adjustable. Do a search and read all the posts about adjusting our Bi Xenon lights, you will read about the gears shredding and no actual adjustment. If anyone can actually confirm that they actually adjusted the beam, I'm interested.
Getting all the light I can in the factory AWD lifted stance...LOL

You can still adjust it.
You have to remove the headlight.
Locate where the adjustment knob is connected to and detach it.
Then you will see an allen insert.
Turn it clockwise to raise. Be very careful and turn it slowly. There is a rubber gasket behind there which can get twisted. If it does, turning that adjustment will get harder and harder and eventually break off. I recommend you try to oil behind as best as you can so the rubber gasket will glide and not twist.

I had the same problem. What I had to do was pop off the little plastic piece that had the white plastic cap on it. When I turned the allen adjuster with the plastic piece on, it didn't adjust the headlight.
Note, you don't pop off the plastic white cap, you pop off the black piece attached to it that's holding it to the headlight assembly. Once you pop it off the allen adjuster will work. That's how I did it.
Talked to the dealer. They said my lights are not adjustable. They said you can adjust them up but the car's programing with bring them back down as soon as you start the car......is this true?

Pretty sure those are self adjusting, what they said makes sense however i havent messed with them. Ive adjusted plenty of halogen lights with the allen wrench just fine. Never had a complaint about the xenons yet. They may want to do a headlight calibration to make sure they are at the correct adjustment though.

SkagSig40, Those are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S that I ran until last summer. They were great tires when new but became real noisy when worn and I didn't think they were worth the money. I replaced them with Cooper ZEON Sport A/S last summer and am very happy with them...also cost WAY less.

I think we stole this thread, sorry guys. The ZEON's are all season and have a winter rating, but I have been running Blizzak's in the winter.

Anyone knows which direction are the horizontal adjustment knobs? I think mine are pointing too far outside.

Re: (fone)

The horizontal adjustments should be the ones seen without removing the lights. The vertical would be the knobs that cant be reached.
