Are 05' and 04' FRONT bumpers interchangable?

Okay I had a thought. I have an 04' which has the black pieces on the bottom. I know that the 05's don't have the black piece and they are painted from the factory...
Can I buy a 05' bumper that is prepainted and install it on the 04'?

I asked this not too long ago:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=55006

slowrey,
Off topic, but is the dealership in Austin "mod friendly" at all? I bought my 06 there, off of 290 South, but live north of Houston, about three hours away. I'm going to have them put on the factory body kit sometime in the near future but haven't asked them about anything else aftermarket.

See THAT's the kind of information that is useful. Thank you R Salesman are you 100% sure it wouldn't be that hard to replace the rear bumper mounts?

What about the tail lights? I do not care changing the rear bumper.

the tail lights are an easy swap. Svenske used to sell them. I think http://www.vivaperformance.com would be your best source for that now.

Re: (slowrey)

To answer Slowrey's question and address JRL's statement that no one has installed a 05-06 rear bumper on an 04:
The Evolve body kit was made off an 04 body. So ANYONE who gets the Evolve rear bumper on an 05-06 HAS to change the rear bumper mounts to an 04 in order for the rear bumper cover to mount up correctly.
If I remember correctly, the bumper mounts are around 100 bucks, and can be unbolted using hand tools.
So, while JRL is right (I think) in that we don't know of anyone that actually has change an 04 to an 05 or newer bumper, I'm using my experience here to make a very educated guess.
If we know A) the bumper mounts for 04 are different than 05, B) the bumper mounts for 05s and 06s are the same, and C) bumper mounts from an 04 can be mounted onto an 05 and an 06, and vice versa, THEN, it stands to reason that an 05/06 bumper mount can be put on an 04, and thusly an 05/06 rear bumper cover can be mounted to an 04.

They are seperate part numbers. So you would spend $ 600-700 for a new front painted bumper that would be the same as what you got. Just buy new side moldings and get them painted.

Re: Are 05' and 04' FRONT bumpers interchangable? (Mike"R")

See I looked in Vadis under the front bumper and it doesn't show the lower bumper trim part that is normally black as being a seperate piece. I know the upper trim strips are but the bottom one doesn't show to be. I figured if I could put on a MY05 front bumper that's already painted it would save me some cash in the long run.

Yes the lower comes painted, but its just two small pieces on each side. I think you will still save money in long run by just paint whats already there. Have a body shop sand and prime and spot in the lowers and upper moldings.
Of course you could do it my way which cost a little more...... Get rid of your 04 and buy a 06. Paint problem solved.
