Apparently it's normal for a 2004 P2R (AUTO) to only boost at 10PSI?

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I've found several posts claiming that 2004 P2Rs only boost to 10PSI, in all gears. For example: https://www.facebook.com/groups/488591964562156/permalink/2075727615848575/

I've also seen people deny it, saying "my 2004 boosts to 14PSi all day everyday"

So what's the truth? Any insight appreciated.

Thank you! Is this a side effect of the 2004-2005 automatic torque limiter, or is it unrelated?
All modern ECU’s are “torque limited”. The case with older automatic R’s is they are limited in all gears same amount. If you look at Volvo performance specs for the early years R models, you can see that manual cars have 400 Nm of torque whereas automatics have 350 Nm. The horsepower peak is the same.

Mine is an 05 SR GT and was factory de-tuned. However It seems to reach peak boost in first and second at 11-12, levels off at a solid 10-11 the rest of the way through. Shes just rolled 190k and I'm about ready to get a tune to about 18, hoping to go 300k on the block, I think its had an easy life.

As CupDriver91 said, it's 1st and 2nd limited only on the 2004. Weaker transmission or output shaft iirc.

/\ this is how my 04 VR was till I had finally got around to tuning it, even the stage 1 on 04 GT is straight night and day difference.

So my 04 SR hits 11 psi until about 3800 rpm, then goes to 16 and stays there when the rpms are 3800+. Bought the car with 112k on the clock and to my knowledge had not been tuned. Added FMIC, iPd exhaust, and 207k miles lol.

No. 2004 automatic is 10 psi limited in all gears.
Thank you for setting the record straight!

But is it an Automatic? As mentioned in this thread, manuals don't have the same limitation.
