I am curious if this is truly effective as a cooler or just better than nothing. I assume that the use case would be to keep some drinks cool on a longer road trip.
Ha! I'd forgotten about that feature, and will have to give it a try over the upcoming weekend.I am curious if this is truly effective as a cooler or just better than nothing. I assume that the use case would be to keep some drinks cool on a longer road trip.
Personally it seems like a really stupid "feature". Who wants condensation from any drinks getting the interior of the glove box wet. Also where will you put your registration and insurance cards if you have wet things in the glove box. The console box is small enough as it is.I am curious if this is truly effective as a cooler or just better than nothing. Although I can't say I've tried it yet, I had the same thoughts. Then I saw a post pointing out there is a shelf inside the glove box. I have my paper material on the shelf out of the way of condensation.Personally it seems like a really stupid "feature". Exactly. The air going into the glove box has already had the moisture condensed out of it beforehand, so it isn't going to condense very much on the contents of the glove box. That's the water you see dripping from your car on a hot day. The air entering when you open the box might condense a little, but it shouldn't be that bad.
I heard the argument that manuals are built into the car and a phone app, why keep the paper copy in the glove box. Perhaps the same could be said for a log book -- there's and app for that.we've used it once, but it's kind of an awkward fit (esp if you keep the log books and manuals in there) - so doens't fit much. A sandwich is probably the best option, or some chocolate while on the road. (both of which are not allowed in the car for us lol)
There is a slide control in the upper left corner of the glovebox marked by an air conditioning snowflake symbol. If you pull the slide out toward the passenger seat than the vent is open and cooled air will flow into the glovebox when the climate control is on. When the slide is pushed in the air flow is closed. So does the glove box cooling work independently from the cabin air conditioning? Say it's dead winter and the cabin heat is on, will the glove box still be cooled?
I just stopped storing my manual and other stuff in there. Once you get rid of all that, it perfectly fix 4 16 ounce water bottles (barely). Don't attempt to use the little shelf independent of the water bottles on the main compartment. I store the manual in the bottom bin built into the front passenger door and it fits there nicely.we've used it once, but it's kind of an awkward fit (esp if you keep the log books and manuals in there) - so doens't fit much.
