I am curious if this is truly effective as a cooler or just better than nothing. I assume that the use case would be to keep some drinks cool on a longer road trip.

Ha! I'd forgotten about that feature, and will have to give it a try over the upcoming weekend.

Personally it seems like a really stupid "feature". Who wants condensation from any drinks getting the interior of the glove box wet. Also where will you put your registration and insurance cards if you have wet things in the glove box. The console box is small enough as it is.

The glove box is cooled  Had no idea!

Although I can't say I've tried it yet, I had the same thoughts. Then I saw a post pointing out there is a shelf inside the glove box. I have my paper material on the shelf out of the way of condensation.

I've tried it and even after 3 hours of driving with it on the bottled waters in there were slightly cool. There was no condensation -- they weren't cold enough even for that. After using it a couple times with such trivial results I haven't bothered since -- though i still store spare waters there.

maybe the may update fixes its lackluster performance :D

or breaks it...

I believe is cooled by the cold air from the Air Conditioner, so don't' expect refrigerator type of performance. It can be useful if you live in hot climate like me.

So does the glove box cooling work independently from the cabin air conditioning? Say it's dead winter and the cabin heat is on, will the glove box still be cooled?

The air going into the glove box has already had the moisture condensed out of it beforehand, so it isn't going to condense very much on the contents of the glove box. That's the water you see dripping from your car on a hot day. The air entering when you open the box might condense a little, but it shouldn't be that bad.

Exactly.

Additionally, this is not meant to be functioning like a refrigerator. It is there to keep whatever you put in cool. I have used it many times, on a hot day, leaving my water inside for an hour or so and it is kept cool, not cold. Works and functions as designed.

we've used it once, but it's kind of an awkward fit (esp if you keep the log books and manuals in there) - so doens't fit much. A sandwich is probably the best option, or some chocolate while on the road. (both of which are not allowed in the car for us lol)

I heard the argument that manuals are built into the car and a phone app, why keep the paper copy in the glove box. Perhaps the same could be said for a log book -- there's and app for that. :) I buy into this argument and will likely only keep my registration/insurance in there on the shelf.

Thanks for all the feedback. Sounds like it is useful feature. I surely didn't expect fridge-type performance, but it sounds like it doesn't a reasonable job for a drink or sandwich on a road trip.

There is a slide control in the upper left corner of the glovebox marked by an air conditioning snowflake symbol. If you pull the slide out toward the passenger seat than the vent is open and cooled air will flow into the glovebox when the climate control is on. When the slide is pushed in the air flow is closed.

I just stopped storing my manual and other stuff in there. Once you get rid of all that, it perfectly fix 4 16 ounce water bottles (barely). Don't attempt to use the little shelf independent of the water bottles on the main compartment. I store the manual in the bottom bin built into the front passenger door and it fits there nicely.

ooo that's a good call!

Although my wife was kinda thinking we would keep a taser or small caliber protection pistol in the drawer below the driver's seat.

I also have the worst time with my sunglasses in the left compartment (but i am trying to use the case). Otherwise driving around causes it to rattle/move
