Searched and did not see any topics. Has anyone upgraded speakers and added amps or subs? What size speakers are in these? Tried crutchfield and they have not researched this vehicle.

Thanks,
Tim

There was guy in the XC60 forum who fitted a custom sub he made. I cant find find the link as the keyword slips me. I memory recalls info regarding speaker ohms and wiring diagrams.

Cannot remember if he was using the stock or upgraded factory stereo.

I can say Inside Line had "tested" the Premium Audio but I dont think they tweaked it enough.

Speaksize:

The Setup
The S60’s Premium Sound System consists of 12 speakers powered by 650 watts. These include a 1-inch tweeter and 3-inch speaker in the center of the dash; a 1-inch tweeter, 2.5-inch midrange and 6.5-inch woofer in each front door; and a 1-inch tweeter and 6.5-inch woofer in each rear door.

Do you have the base system (high performance) or the premium?

I updated mine similar to how mark-sf has done for his xc60 (there is a link to that
thread in one of the above referenced threads). I have the base "high performance"
audio. I added these to the rear deck (mounted from below with wood baffles):

and used the same amp as mark-sf uses in his thread. That was a major improvement
since you can cut the bass with the head unit and add it back by turning up the amp.
That addresses the main issues with panel vibrations (but it still has some, but not
as bad). Recently I added a JBL MS-8 to run the door speakers and do it's signal processing
magic. That was also an improvement but not nearly the bang for the buck as a subwoofer
with an additional amp. All in all it is a fairly complex upgrade. I did the work myself but I was
a professional car stereo installer in the early 80's while I was in college.

Maybe I can find a stereo store somewhere in Dallas that has worked on one of these. Looks complicated, and cannot find adapters and stuff from Crutchfield.
