I have a 1050 lbs jet boat and I wouldn't might towing it w/ my V50 (not long distance). I'm reading it can tow up to 2,000 LBS. Has anyone towed anything w/ the V50?

Re: Anyone tow w/ their V50 2.4i? (audiomidiman)

I've towed a small trailer (for gardening duties) with about 1 cubic yard of crushed stone (0-3/4") and various topsoil mixes. I believe a cubic yard of crushed stone is probably more than 2000 pounds, but as long as the load is kept even and you don't overdo it on the tongue weight you should be ok.
Do you have any particular concerns

Yeah, my concern is that the 2.4i can handle towing. I know they say 2000 lbs but I'm just wondering if it actually is efficiant at towing 1000ish lbs.
Thanks!

Engine power is hardly ever a concern nowadays. It's the suspension, brakes, and wheelbase that matter in towing. Keep the tongue weight low and make sure the trailer has brakes.

I didn't think that many trailers rated for 2K lbs. or less have brakes.
Remember that you may have sway problems if you don't have 10-12% of the trailer weight on the tongue.

Re: (jackf)

I sold a friend of mine a V50(2.4i), he regularly tows a trailer weighing about 1750 lbs (not sure what the tongue weight is). He doesn't have trailer brakes and commented to me that he was surprised how nicely it handled the load....
