I'm debating on installing a aftermarket sub in my car. I've read all of the archived info about the subject and wanted to know if anybody has come up with a real nice solution. Most people have just used hi=low converters on the rear speakers. I think they should be used on the fronts as in PL2 mode the rears will not have the correct signal. Or is there a better way to get the amp a signal? Share your ideas.
Thanks
Chad B.

Re: Anyone recently install your own subwoofer? (BlackT5)

look below post, I'm thinking of using the mono takeoff from the center speaker, sub bass should be non-directional...

Well Chad...
Id say dont even bother installing the factory sub. Get on Ebay and find a simple JL Audio 10W0 and put it in a small box and get a cheap amp... Youll be much much happier!! That was my first Sub and probably my favorite! But yea...you'll use the converter and draw a signal from one of the speakers in the doors. I hooked mine up to the front speakers. Good luck with the project!

I would like to do something like this but installing a HU is about as far as I have gone with car audio, I am capable but clueless!

Its an 8" woofer that has no freq. range! Its the same as the speakers in the door with a little more power. If you want bass freq. then buy a real woofer!! Haha!!!
