I had treid both the Equus 3100... and the newer CAN version and never could get it to communicate with my car ... always got "Err" no connection with vehicle

What code reader out there will DEFINITLEY work with the 05's? I think I remeber Forced talking about this issue as well...

Our ScanGauge works on 2005-2006 models. We worked with ScanGauge to make them compatible with these models that communicate over
CAN-"L" .

It's a network that various control modules use to talk to one another. There's a high side and a low side. CAN L refers to the low side network.

Up to 2004 models, Volvo used athe more common OBD-II SAE standard ( I don't recall what is is called) and then beginning in 2005 switched to the CAN path (controller area network) for OBD-II access. From what I understand it allows for a hihger sample rate of the monitored data, so adds some increased accuracy over the previously used method.
