Re: Anyone know if we have new NAV disc upgrades with Birdseye view/3D? (ForceReconTrojan)
The Alpine unit in Infinity's cars had the bird's eye view three years ago.
After seeing their implementation of NAV, I never was impressed with anyone else's system and it was a major reason I skipped getting NAV in my R. If I had not whacked my head getting in the back seat or the coupe on the rear glass (no clearance and I am not that tall) and the fact that you had to rev the crud out of it to get it to go, I might have bought one. Infinity nailed their exterior of the coupe - it's a piece of art. They really lost me on the interior with way too much cheap plastic.

- Polartek

I agree Polartek, the Nissan / Infinity Nav system is WAY better from a display / control perspective than the Volvo Nav. Every time I get in the R from my '02 Pathfinder, I can't believe the difference. At least I'm not looking at it all the time, as in the Pathfinder. That would really suck.
But the Volvo system does have advantages...it's DVD rather than my last-gen Nissan CD based, so I don't "drive off the map". It operates much faster and you're not locked out from so many choices while driving.
However when we bought our Pre-Owned R, while Nav wasn't a deciding factor, it was a huge bonus as my wife and I are often travelling to unfamilliar destinations. And for those of you who poo-poo the money, when you're driving in someplace like, say, Queens, NY, do you really want to be looking at a map or struggling to read street signs? Not I.
