My 2006 S60r (38k)(never crashed) has been in 4 times since last 2007 (16k) for a noise/vibration comming from the front end.
It resonates up though the steering wheel and can come and go as the brakes were applied. Last time, they swapped ROTORS, but the noise/vibration is still there.
I dont belive it's in the brakes, but in the transmition or something.
they are being great trying to fix it, but I dont want to keep taking the car back for parts swapping. There has to be an end to this at some point.

This issue has been discussed MANY times.
It's called BRAKE HUM. Sounds as if someone was blowing over a beer bottle? And yes, resonates right up to your fingers.
Goes away with the press of a brake pedal, but quickly comes back. Usually occurs at a cruising speed between 30-60mph and also when coasting?
Unfortunately, this alone isn't going to warrant a lemon law claim.
Try using the Cadillac CTS-V brake pads.
Raybestos part # PDG-1050M.
Is there a TSB? Or any documentation?
That's exactly it. They tried to charge me $700 for new rotors 2 weeks ago. But it was covered under warrenty.
I am just getting tired of bringing the car in for this issue. This will be the 5th time. The car is annoying as hell to drive like this. And no, I wont live with it, or pay out of pocket to have it fixed.

Re: (phuz)

Not sure if your problem will qualify, but they seem pretty easy to work with. I put in a claim in Feb of this year for our 04 with 69k miles on it. It was way past the allowable 12 months 12k miles. We were an unusually situation and we got something from them. It wasn't a lot and they were not going to swap the car out but it was something and it allowed us to purchase the 07.

Google search produces results.
Regular search, archived content, post bodies, in the R forum, produces results.
So it HAS been discussed.
Regardless, you would be hard pressed to find a judgment in your favor for this constituting a lemon. I would suggest firs trying the new pads. I know my CTS-V friend is raving about hawk hp plus' on his V (for street use, he does a lot of track events and swaps pads often) and the R will take the same pads.

Re: (phuz)

Phuz, I am missing something. One of your earlier posts said you got rid of the hum by cleaning the calipers and pads, now you are saying go to the CTS-V pads. So is the problem the pad, or how they were installed?

Maybe the threat of suit and knowing the BBB arbitrator might have gotten it resolved better, cant answer that as it is mere speculation. Would I be upset by the issue and want the manufacturer to fix or repurchase it....absolutely. But what I want and what I am entitled to under the applicable law are two different things.
