EST Projectors w HID installed in MY 2005 XC70

The title says it all-- Has anyone installed the EST projectors w HID kit in an 05 XC70?

If yes, please post install or direct me to an install thread. Specific areas of interest are:
1. The wiring within the EST Headlight,
2. Wiring the HID plug and Ballast,
3. High Beam bulb choice,
4. How the EST cable is connected to the OEM headlighgt harness and
5. How all of that is connected to the XC70.

Any other installl help will be appreciated.

TIA :)

Answer to #1: Pic of back of EST Projector with HID cover open

With this setup plugged into the car, the LED's were lit on all 3 headlight settings. The high beam was never lit. The HID bulb only flickered at the 12 oclock setting on the headlight switch.

Ask #2: The OEM headlight was not HID

Justin: Better pic of the plug mounts on the rear of the headlights. Let me know if you need something else..........

Bump for anyone who has installed EST Projectors into an 05 XC70
I had stock high beam and parking/turn signal bulbs...the parking /turn signal did npt work. The high beams were barely glowing..

I am checking continuity on everything this weekend and will post results. Wiring diagram for the OEM plug in teh car that the OEM headlight harness connects to whould be appreciated.

Thank you very much! :D
One at a time, I hooked each element of the headlight (dipped HID, High beam, parking lights and then LEDs) directly to the battery -- EVERYTHING worked. Pulled the bumper and installed the new headlights,

REsults
1. High beams work
2. HIDs flash once and go off when key is turned to position II. After starting engine, Low beam failure error message come on and HIDs not working.
3. Parking lights do not work,
4. Turn signals and 4 way flashers work
5. LEDS were NOT connected BUT THEY ARE WORKING !

Power to High beam is from OEM Connectiors 54/23 (left light) and 54/22 right side) pin # 7. HID power thru pin # 3. Same as Volvo Wiring diagram for both HID and high beams.
Parking Turn Signals thru pin # 9 instead of pins 5 & 1 on the Volvo diagram (may explain why parking lights not working). Everything is grounded to pin #10 per Volvo wiring diagram. i have no clue how to get pins 1 & 5 connected to the parking lights instead of pin # 9

Plugged and unplugged the HIDs while engine was on.....they still did not work. Increasing headlight fuse from 20 AMP to 30 AMP also had no effect on the HIDs. Waited until dark and restarted the car..NO Change HIDs and front parking lights are not working

Any ideas??

EST Projectors w HIDs in an 05

Got it done. Also painted the eggcrate grill flat black. It is better color match in reality than in the photo: Grill to Forever Black on bumper cover :D Thanks again for the wiring diagrams link. This was not a "plug and play" mod..

Thanks. The job was a PIA. I still need to put Klasse wax on the grill. I am waiting a couple more days for the paint to cure. I think that will bring the grill and bumoper colors closer together.

The matte silver does look nice. I happen to like the LEDs and will be putting a swtch in to turn off the HIDs, leaving the LEDs as DRLs. The way the HIDs are now wired, the center position on the headlight switch does not turn off the HIDs. The LED wiring is a mystery (internal within the headlight housing and are powereed-up when the HIDs are on). If that was not the case, the peanut bulb wiring may have been a possible source to power the LEDs. As it now stands, the HIDs and LEDs are on all the time.

The other fun factor is that the HIDs doen't always power up on the first start...another mystery.

Flickering was intially the problem. Power to the HIDs was increaed by adding the bi-zenon circuit to the old halogen ciruit that was powering the HIDs. This powered up the HIDs. They draw just over 17 amps.

Now the HIDs will both turn on at Key Positin II but on engine start, the left HID and sometimes both HIDs go off. By repeating the engine start cycle, 1 , 2 or 3 times, tboth HIDs stay on.

Hopefully that makes sense.
Check with Frank at EST
Now it is undone-----

!!!! WTF happened!

was the light output that bad??
I forgot westside Chicago rules of the road: Go on Red and proceed with caution on Green. Now I just pray the XC is not totaled.

Light wise, the high beams still work.
Not a good sign: my claim has now gone to the insurance companies "total" division--

Jim: I hope it is a buyer's market for 2005 XC70"s
Bye Bye 2005

:(Car was totaled -- Got a "new to me" 2009 XC70 T6.

My thanks to all who helped me with the mods done to the 05 over the years.
