Right at the end of my ownership I put 255/55-18 Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snows on. They fit fine on the stock wheels. If you run the calcs on the height they are only 1/2" taller than the stock size. Much easier to find tires in this size also. For the short time I ran them they were immensly better than the Michelins. Quieter on the Highway and great on ice/snowpak. I've got them in the garage now waiting for next winter and some 18" wheels for the Toy.

I recently installed a set of Yoko Geolander 255/55/18. I really like them, they made the car look a lot better; I am perfectly happy with the tire's performance and quietness.

The only "problem" with the nokians is getting them. Here in California, the only reps are way up north, at least 2 hours away from SF bay. I tried getting them for my car, but ended up returning to the Pilots (yuck!). They are also a good $50 more expensive per tire.

Replaced the OEM Michelins with Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza 255/55/18. Great 4 season tire. Nice balance of ride and handling. Quiet tire.

I had 2 of my OEM Michelin Pilot Alpins replaced under warranty due to wrong rear wheel alignment specs so I purchased 2 more to complete that replacement and that's what I'm cuirrently running. They will not last till next summer though.

Hi
The dealer suggested to put on 275/45/20 or 295/45/20, he has delivered some xc 90 with 20" earlier. The dealer said it looked pretty awsome.

J.

They handle much better in bad weather and drive just as smooth on the highways as my stock Michelins. The Michelins made our SUV handle like a rwd sports car in the snow. Plus the Geolanders are a lot less $$$. GO to tirerack.com and read some reviews.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have the oem rims 235/60R18 for my 2004 XC90 and I was going to mount 255/55R18 instead but someone mentioned the tires will slightly rub on full turn and when loaded. I do think the 255/55R18 make the car look nicer and at the same time I have more options.

Will the 255/55R18 tires fit on the oem rim (235/60R18) or do I need to buy a new rim? and is it true the new tires will rub the fender when I have a full turn?

I've checked tirerack website but they don't list the 255/55R18 as an option.

let me know
Thanks
