Isn't that illegal in the US?

The software product part # is 9499585. If someone can confirm its function I might be able to get it.
Be really nice to have the fogs fill in below the lower cut off of the high beams

Dealer tryed to install 9499585 Fogs w/hi. He tryed but could not do it. His Computer said, 'incompatable". I mentioned that it may be a euro spec asked if ther was a way to work around. No. I think if I can find the relay, it can be re wired.

I gave the dealer the software part #, but after trying it he told me they couldn't do it because it was illegal in California. This was the dealer in Pasadena.

Correct me if I am wrong....
Couldnt you give the fogs a constant 12v power supply and then run it to a switch inside your R (if you wanted this feature bad enough)?

Well, we will see tonight.
I bought more emergency lighting LEDS for the grille of my s80. I have to add a fourth and fifth switch to my car now, run wires from the trunk to the grille, synch these lights, etc. Ill post pics of a successful install or pics of my car burning to the ground
Its definitely illegal in most states in the US. My Honda Prelude has OEM fogs and they are the same way...as are other vehicles with OEM fogs.
Easy work-around would be to clip the high-beam input that's going to the FL relay that switches the relay off when HB are engaged.
(be sure to tape cut wire - DUH!)
Brad

Re: (aneurysm)

I don't think it's illegal for the R. Most real lighting systems burn 4 bulbs of some sort for high beams which is the maximum allowed and hence the reason why fogs have to be off with high beams. In the R the 'high' beam is a tilted low beam meaning only two sources of forward illumination. I've not heard of any legal reason why the R can't run fogs with high beams but I'm not surprised it didn't occur to Volvo to write software for the R's U.S. market as it is an exception for a Volvo product and not the rule.

Quote, originally posted by aneurysm »

Its definitely illegal in most states in the US. Re: (steamboatsig)

The part number is for the V. There is another # for the S. It works. Glad to hear it's not illegal
