on my 04 if i listen to music a little too loud for too long the radio cuts out. im sure everyone here has experienced this while driving at some point. i drive with the sunroof and windows down all the time. from what ive read, its the amp shutting down once it hits a certain temperature so prevent the speakers from blowing(?) has anyone modded their amp to fix this or replaced it with aftermarket? just curious about this because im getting really annoyed about it...

What helps is to set the foot vents to blow cool air. It helps immensely.
You can substitute for an aftermarket amplifier, and purchase the correct DIN plug adapters from the old QBM or whoever can supply them.

Some have mounted computer fans under the seat to cool it. I have not done it so can offer no first hand experience.
The amplifier can not deliver it's rated power output for any sustained period. A common problem.
