Just like the thread title says. Is there any way to disable steering interlock without the ignition key? Often times I go to the wreckers and need to pull a steering wheel off a car and without a key it's really hard to do without breaking stuff.
There are no other methods except brute force? No magic button that can be pushed behind a column? What about unbolting the steering shaft? Would that allow the shaft to spin or is it locked at the ignition cylinder?
Nope, no magic button unfortunately, Even if you unbolt the pinch bolt that the bottom of the shaft it will still be locked by the column lock (mechanical portion of the ignition switch). You could purchase a batter operated die grinder and put a cut off wheel in it and just cut the collar off of it I reckon.
