Anyone use OBDCOM?

I originally started looking for an iPhone app, but then wandered into PC based OBD-ii readers to put on my netbook. Has anyone used OBDCOM? http://www.obdcom.com/index.htm It seems like a good price for what it does as long as you don't mind having a copilot along to monitor the laptop.

That looks really good, the only real risk, if they honor their guarantee, is about $20 shipping both ways.
If you don't do it I just might! If you do, please post back and let us know how it is.

Re: Anyone use OBDCOM? (Filson)

Just ordered one. I'll report back on my experience. If it's good, I'll send them a testimonial and put a plug in for Swedespeed.

If you don't like it check out PCMSCAN.
You can probably still get the SS group buy:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=63005
LTA
Re: Anyone use OBDCOM? (Filson)

I had a short e-mail conversation with Mike at obdcom. He said his Volvo customers have all been happy so far.
He also said he's set up a group buy if there was interest. Their price is already very reasonable, $90. So my speculation is it might just be $10 off or free 2-year warranty ($10 value).
I'll follow up on my experience, but feel free to chime in if you're considering this product and I'll pass along our apparent interest.

Re: (LloydDobler)

Here's my report on OBDCOM.com (http://www.obdcom.com
- I got it and started playing with it within 15 minutes. It's really easy to use.
- Customer service is incredible. Mike sent me a personal e-mail when he got the delivery confirmation, and we had a several e-mail exchange at what I realized later was 11pm at night for him.
- I had no codes to pull, but it will show both stored and pending.
- The real-time graph will track two outputs. The output was fairly responsive. Throttle position seemed to lag, but I think that's related to output, not the software.
- It does not read boost pressure -- it's not a standard output.
- It will show up to ten gauges of real time outputs and log them in .csv files. Tracking about 5 items, the number of entries was ~450 (about 10 minutes).

Mike sent me an e-mail letting me know there is a software update now available, so they are also continuing to improve the product. If anyone knows the Volvo-specific obd codes, it sounds like OBDCOM would try to incorporate them.
I'll emphasize again:
1) easy to use
2) very good price
3) very good service
