did you buy the volvo socket to get the cover off? I was sort of thinking of using a universal filter socket (you know the socket with only two sides), but mine is SAE, so not 100% sure it will work. Would prefer to buy a socket that fits, like I know the porsches use a 72 mm socket instead of buying the official porsche socket.
Oh, also, my dealer said the ring between the cartridge and the cover doesn't need to be replaced, is that true? I didn't get any, but I saw it listed as being a recommended part in volvoparts.com

err, I did read that but I guess that my mind went blank when I found out that the volvo tool was $50 and that was all that I could think about :> ) I guess all of this would have been easier if I just lifted up my car and took a look for myself. thanks
