I have the wipers of course. But I don't have anything coming out of the nozzles. There is no hole for the fluid to come out. You would think that if there were wipers on the headlights there would be fluid as well!????

Re: Any R's here WITHOUT headlight washer fluid??????? (Mash)

Funny you should mention this, because my pump just went out recently. I had to have it replaced (under warranty).

Did you notice if it was leaking out of your headlight wipers?

I've noticed the same thing on my R. I don't see any place where the fluid would come out. I've turned on the wipers and all they did was smear the dirt across my headlights.

Wow. Mine have never sprayed anything at all! I have the spray nozzles on the fron of the light, just no hole for the fluid to come out. I see nothing on the wiper that would allow any fluid to get thru there either!

Strange. My car definitely sprays the lights. You can see it when you do it at night, there's a mist that comes off them and illuminates in the headlights.

Of course, you can also see the dribble down the front valence.

I do see the hose that is on the wipers. No fluid comes out of them. Anybody have any recommendations on how to trouble shoot this?

Try spraying them while the car is parked, then if nothing is coming out on the lights, look under the car to see if it is leaking on the ground. The is a fitting in the shape of a "T" that splits the fluid from the main hose to each headlight that can get clogged, and if that happens the fluid will just leak on the ground.

Bump.

I am probably going to make myself look stupid, but what does bump mean? I have seen it posted before and can't put 2 and 2 togther.

Bump is just a techno-speak word/phrase for putting a thread, like this one, to the top of the list in terms of date/time. If you simply have nothing to add to a thread, but want it to have better prominence in the threads "recent" history so that others have a tendency to take another look @ it, the Internet-friendly way to do it is to say "bump" in the message.

Re: Any R's here WITHOUT headlight washer fluid??????? (Mash)

I was wondering when this typical Volvo issue would start to hit the R. I am on my third Volvo and they have all had issues with the headlight and windshield washers.

I assume the windshield washer works okay or you can hear the pump working, so the problem is most likely with the check valve or the line. Both the windshield washer and the headlight washer have a check valve that prevents the fluid from flowing all the way back to the reservoir. The check valves are prone to early failure but the issue with my R is that the line was crimped.

If your bumper cover has ever been removed, you need to take care that the washer lines are not crimped because it is very easy for this to happen. In order to fix, I would suggest tracking the headlight lines to see that they are not pinched. I was able to get pretty good access by removing the foglight grilles and loosening the bumper cover. It will be a tedious process but the lack of headlight washer fluid was driving me nuts. Good luck.

HOLY COW!
My wipers don't spray either WTF?

I should have known better because my S80 had an actual nozzle mounted in front of the light that would spray then the wiper arm would actuate & viola!

My R has the nozzles in the wiper arm attached to a hose that routes behind the bumper but they have never produced fluid.

Nevermind - ALL FIXED (kinked hose from the pump)

But I must say, the spray output is NOTHING like the shower that the S80 nozzles provided

I disconnected mine...I hate the fact that the washer fluid goes all over the hood and bumper.

Those pesky little wipers are also good for scratching your headlights too!!!
