I will be installing an Evolve power package (software, downpipe, exhaust) and was wondering what other's experience has been like... Drivability, voiding factory warranty, excessive wear on engine/transmission???
No idea as I have no performance mods at the moment other than some upgraded tires. Let us know how it goes though... i but there are plenty of us wondering what you think.

Re: Any advice on Evolve mods to 2004 S60R??? (david4751)

I don't know if you've been following what I've done, but so far everything has been great.
Can't speak for the downpipe yet because mine's being installed next week.
The dealership hasn't given me any problems whatsoever. In fact, they're going to be the ones installing the downpipe.

I don't know, Matt (sales) never mentioned and I forgot to ask.
I'm going to smog it just before installing the DP.

I've spoken with Matt, and he insists it will pass the smog test. However, the website says the DP has yet to be CARB certified, and in the event of a problem I'm not sure what good Matt's guarentee would do anyone. I'll probably get the thing anyway.

I agree with Matt that it will pass the sniffer test. It will NOT however pass the visual test without the CARB certification. Thankfully for us, I dont think I've ever been to a smog check place that actually looks that hard at your performance mods....ESPECIALLY the downpipe.
Assuming you dont throw any codes on your ECU and you have a decent cat installed on your downpipe, you'll be just fine

It would be a good idea to smog just before install, just in case. But otherwise you should be fine. I had all the same mods on my 04. You will love it. As long as our dealer is cool, they shouldnt hassle you. But every dealer is different.

Re: (Mike"R")

i live in CA and bought the dp knowing it's not "technically" legal. it won't pass visual...but it DOES have a cat in it..so it' snot illegal in the sense that you are not running without a cat. it's just that at smog time, you might not pass the visual.
my honest opinion..and maybe I'll be proven wrong at smog time, is that the smog tech won't know the dp is there. the stock dp and EVOLVE dp are SO SIMILAR in shape/appearance....the only difference is size. the EVOLVE dp is larger....but it doesn't look like an aftermarket part. plus, how many smog techs know what an S60R downpipe is supposed to look like. it's not like an accord where they see 5 a day and might immediately recognzie the part is not stock.
plus, the EVOLVE dp lets you retain the heat shield. mine is on there..so looking down at it, from the hood - you really can't see it. you'd have to put the car on a lift and see it from the bottom. most smog places don't do that.
i think if you did have a problem at a smog station, just go to another one. eventually you'll find one that won't look that close,w on't care, and will pass you visually, then do the sniffer, and given the EVOLVE setup uses a cat, you should be fine.
i think i'm due for smog this year...or next...so i'l be sure to reprot what happens when I do.

I have the Evolve chip and catback exhaust on my 04 6 spd.
No issues w/ driveability or reliability.
The exhaust may be a little loud for some, but I like it.
