okay so a "pothole"/crappy road got the best of me this weekend. ever since i have been having intermittent "Anti-Skid Service Required" warning light on. and last night in the rain it was VERY obvious as my car was pulling to the right if i gave it too much gas. i just got a new angle gear in last fall so i dont see that being the issue? could the anti-skid being "shot"/whatever is wrong with it the sole issue for this? Damn this R

Re: Anti-Skid Service Required (ClemsonS60R)

You have lost AWD, likely due to a sensor being damaged. either that or your DEM temp / pressure sensor crapped out, or your DEM just went into shock from the hit.
Either way...to the dealer, and it shouldn't be TERRIBLY expensive.

Speed sensor or one of the accelerometers. Look for about a 1 inch square black plastic box with leads on it. Might be dangling down from upper part of front shock. Get it before it becomes damaged and it will just require remounting.

Re: Anti-Skid Service Required (ClemsonS60R)

I've just had a series of "Anti-skid Service Required" messages show up. 5 out of the last 10 times I've driven the car I've had the message. AWD was working in all cases. Sure would be nice to be able to read the codes without a trip to the dealer...

I certainly would have been happier had someone told me to have the clutch slave cylinder checked and fixed on my car earlier under warranty rather than after it failed in highway traffic causing multiple other parts (including engine flywheel) to fail...

Quote, originally posted by ClemsonS60R »

I am in the same boat as him though right now i am already looking at ~$1300 in new front struts and SUM module alone NOW plus this issue
and im BROKE so its prolly gonna be a few monthes before i can even freaking do anything about it

I feel for you... for myself, some of the major problems happened 1 month before I was going to be out of job with no salary... definitely compounded the problem.

Re: Anti-Skid Service Required (ClemsonS60R)

My wife's s60 2.5T had this message following a number of others (transmission service required, reduced enginge performance etc) a short time after. After a while the car would not start and I ended up towing it to the stealership. After clearing the codes the car run fine for about 30 miles and ended up accumulating a number of messages and would not start again. Dealership suggested replacing Brake control module 1500.00 but did not guarantee that it would solve the problem.................... Still waiting for the car.
Hope you are not having anything like that.

Re: Anti-Skid Service Required (ClemsonS60R)

My independent volvo shop found some loose bolt or something in the CV, they replaced or tightened it for whatever the cost of labor was and I've never seen the problem again since. They wanted to replace the entire ABS control module originally, but I said no and then "miraculously" they found a cheaper solution...

Re: Anti-Skid Service Required (blot)

My V70R also had that message appear as I turned the car on. After I completed my errands the message went away. It did this a couple of times and then I took it to the dealer during a service and told them about it and it never came back. I don't know if anything was really broken.
My warranty has already expired and I guess I should start looking for an extended warranty with all these expensive problems. I don't drive my car everyday though. I put around 8,000miles a year.
2005 V70R BLK

Re: Anti-Skid Service Required (sinisin63)

Mine just started doing the same thing. I only drive it once or twice a week, 5K miles a year. It has come on 3 of the last 5 times I've started it (last 2 days), but the light clears after I drive a little and there is no persistent warning or code. I have not noticed any change in the driving behavior.
I had assumed my battery was going and the current supplied to the 4WD system which is electronically controlled and it's sensors was not sufficient causing the voltage to drop and cause errors. My battery isn't as fresh as it used to be, probably ready for replacement. I have not pulled the code yet, I'm doing to do that in a bit.
So the question for the group is: If you've seen this warning, is your battery old?
EDIT: I just checked for MIL codes. There were NONE, which might indicate an intermittent issue like power.
