Hi. I bought an '01 s40 a couple of months ago - my first car - and love it. Recently the breaks began aqeaking, though, usually just before the car comes to rest. It's not loud, but it is a bit annoying. The car's got about 4000 mi on it. I don't think I'm any tougher on my breaks than the average city driver.
Would you say this a problem that's chronic, and therefore I should just learn to deal with it, or if I take the car in and have it fixed, am i likely to see the problem go away until the break pads need replacing? If the pads that came on my car are abnormally bad, I'd gladly spring for new ones, but I don't want to get caught doing this over and over.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
-David
