During 67,500 mile service of my 2006 S60R GT, my angle gear was observed to be leaking. The dealer recommended a reseal--during the process of resealing the assembly (per the sales tech), the nut that goes on the pinion seized on the pinion of the angle gear.
I have two questions:
1. In consideration of the fact that the nut seized during the reseal, does the dealership bear any financial responsibility for the angle gear failure?
2. What is the warranty period for a newly replaced angle gear assembly (car is out of warranty)?
Per the Volvo service rep, the earliest the dealer will be able to obtain a new angle gear is February 27th. The dealer is reporting the assemblies are on backorder and none are immediately available.
Any advice, comments are appreciated.
