Hi All,

Are all angle gears the same on all P2's? Will a xc70 fit a R also? And does it matter if its manual or auto? The reason I'm asking is I might want to pick up an extra angle gear and I want to make sure when I pick one up it will fit my R. Thx in advance.

Extra info:

Angle gears are the same between s60, v70 and xc70
Only the collar that connects to the tranny changes so if you do a re-build or stock up on parts make sure you get the right piece as there are 3 kinds:
5 speed auto
6 speed auto
6 speed manual

XC90 angle gear is also the same. V8 uses a newer stronger one iirc

I just found that they are actually not all the same. The collar that connects to the driveshaft is different on certain years. I know this because had one laying around from (I think an XC90) that didn't fit onto an 04 R. I can't specifically say what year it was, only that it was actually different.

HOWEVER, if that were an issue, you can change the collar that connects to the driveshaft if necessary.

'06/'07 GT 6-speed uses stronger unit which debuted on the XC90 V8 to handle the torque. Hence the '06/'07
GTs do not have 'de-tuned' torque output in the lower gears.
