The alternator seems to fail frequently around 120k miles on the V8?

On ours we also had to replace:
* The starter around 80k miles. Under CPO warranty thankfully.
* The steering rack:
--- Once around 80k miles as well. Under CPO warranty again.
--- Again less than two years later. Off warranty this time...

Is the I6 less prone to these disappointments?
* From a brand reputed for its durability. Or were these Ford parts attached to the otherwise well regarded Yamaha V8...
* I also have a 1991 Mercedes (300SE) with 205k miles where all of the above are still original...

All of the items you've listed are still all original on mine. The only major part that is not original is the ignition switch. By steering rack, you mean?

2004 T6 purchased new 155,000 miles. Rear wheel bearings at 110,000 miles. A/C fan resistor around same time, only failures.
