Greetings!
My '00 HPT 5M originally came from a state that didn't require front license plates (IN), but my state (VT) does. I've managed to avoid mounting the factory front H bracket up to this point, but my yearly inspection is coming due at the end of this month, and I'm afraid I can't avoid it any longer. I've done some research on the internet to see how other particular owners have mounted their front plates without drilling the bumper covers, and came across a neat one for the MINI:
http://www.images.gominigo.com...O.pdf
Sadly, the C70 uses an old-style tow loop behind the front bumper cover. I did note that there is a hole, possibly threaded, in the underside of the metal bumper bar, visible with the tow hook cover removed. I'd like to see if this hole will accept a bolt (and subsequently a piece of bent bar stock that extends outside of the bumper cover, et c.).
This is one idea I've been contemplating.
Has anyone here tried a non-permanent front plate mounting, and if so, would you be willing to share the details?

Re: Alternate front plate mounting (autoscribe74)

Double sided sticky tape. Strong enough to stay on for the inspection, but doesn't leave a mark or holes in your bumper.

This one is pretty cool. It tucks under the bumper or pops out at will.
http://www.ecklers.com/product...=1390

Re: (flat_six)

I never understood the necessity of having a rear plate AND a front plate.
I know what you are going through: I live in Québec (one plate) and bought my C70 in 2005 in Ottawa, Ontario (2 plates). My bumper was all messed up with holes...
Lucky me, my second C70 was from Québec, so it didnt have any ugly holes in front... and will keep it that way.
