Now it's really done.
Fixed the squeak/groan in the new steering rack and installed new Conti Extreme Contacts, 215/45/17's.
Also installed new front pads as the off brand pads the previous owner installed were wrong, squeaked and were driving me NUTS!
I also forgot how well these Conti's work with 850's and S70's, nice handling, smooth and QUIET
The Konis provice a much smoother ride while providing the same excellent shock action as a Bilstein Touring.
If you want to be a maschochist, be my guest and install Bilstein HD's, I have. They lasted all of a week before either my kidneys or the car started to rattle apart
This R literally looks, feels and drives like a brand new car
I'm now convinced that after all my combinations that I've installed on this and several S70s that THIS is the best for all around everything, at least for our very rough roads:
850's and S(or V)70's
7" or 7.5" x17 wheels. 215/45/17 Conti Extreme Contacts
ipd sway bars and Koni (Yellow) shocks. Stock springs or maybe H&Rs in the front only.
While you may surely find a slightly stickier tire you won't find a smoother one that is as well matched to a Volvo suspension as well as these are, and a tire that works well in the dry, wet AND light to almost a medium snow
