Need help troubleshooting; I've had three alignments done to spec and car still (2004 V70) pulls left. This started after I ran into a curb while winter tires and rims were on car. I hit the right front after which the car pulled strongly to the left. An alignment was performed, with the winter tires on, afterwhich car still pulled left, although not as noticeably. Put summer tires and rims on and performed another alignment; car still pulled left. Dealer rotated tires and performed another alignment; still no fix. Dealer to perform another alignment Monday. Dealer now wants to mount another set of tires to see if it's my tires??? Anyone have any hints I can pass their way?
Thanks in advance.

Hmm, let's see here.
You hit a curb and the car won't go straight since?
Do you think you may have BENT SOMETHING?
All the alignments in the world won't cure a bent control arm (or something else)

Re: Alignment Troubleshooting Advice (JRL)

Well, he did what I would have done. Taken it to the dealer and had them see if they could bring the car back into alignment. If they align the car and don't tell me that no matter how hard they try it wouldn't come back into spec (a sure sign of underlying damage) I would have tried to drive the car too.
Obviously a bent tire belt or a whacked rim could be the culprit (or a portion of it). I would let the dealer swap wheels and tires and see what it feels like. At any rate, it was nice of them to offer a new set of wheels to try (I know many ppl think they "should" after 3 alignments).
How come you didn't immediately return the car after the first one if you weren't happy (or did you ... did I miss that part)? You didn't actually PAY for 3 seperate alignments, did you?

Re: Alignment Troubleshooting Advice (JRL)

Given that the winter tires and rims were on the car when I slid into the curb and I still have the same problem with the summer tires and rims, my guess is that something must be damaged. The dealer has inspected the front end and says nothing appears to be damaged. That's the issue, so I'm looking for possible hints I can throw their way. I'll suggest they take a closer look at the control arm. Any other ideas? I can't see what good putting another set of wheels and tires on the car will do especially since they want to use my winter tires and rims.

Instaed of your dealer, do you have a GOOD tire and alignment shop where you live?
These guys do this every day and may be better equipped to better get a handle on your problem

Re: Alignment Troubleshooting Advice (JRL)

Probably not a bad idea, I'll see how the dealer does tomorrow then go from there. I also have that 'steering groan' issue so the dealer is installing a larger power steering fluid hose. They say that's the recommended fix. I'll see how that does as well. Somehow I'm starting to think that perhaps these front end problems are related?
