I have a 1998 S70 SE with 97,000km(55,000miles) on the clock. The problem I am having with the OEM alarm system is as follows,
Alarm has worked perfectly since new, however last few months the horn has sounded odd when activated almost a pathetic sad honk compared to the way it use to blare when activated.
Now the horn dosen't sound at all. The lights flash but only a loud clicking sound instead of the horn.
The normal horn works fine in the steering wheel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Tighten the nut in the center of the alarm horn. They get loose...
It's located under the hood on the firewall, center, top.

Re: Alarm problems (BEJinFbk)

Thanks for the info. The centre nut was a bit loose, but no luck. I metered the plug from the car to the horn, lots of voltage. So I suspect the horn is Kaput ! I will have to find one and replace it. Thanks again for the quick reply.

You might try unplugging that horn and putting the voltage right to it, just to be sure!
