anyone experienced a loud constant roar at high speed?<br>seems now to be beginning at lower speeds too.<p>put summer tires and wheels back on and now completely gone.<p>bearing? differential?<br>

Anyway, it's a possiblity.

Anyway, it's a possiblity.</TD></TR></TABLE><p>To test IF it's the angle gear...press clutch and if the sound goes away, it's the angle-gear, if it stays most likely it's a wheelbearing (or cupped tires)...can't imagine the rear-diff already goes.

I, too, sometimes experience an aircraft roar from my rear. It usually prompts all of the windows to be lowered.

Hopefully not the angle gear w/ so few miles. Which is less expensive to fix a wheel bearing or angle gear?

Mine started at about 30 mph and was there all they up past 100, the stereo would not cover it up so it was very annoying. Dealer "fixed" it they said but I pulled out of the lot and turned right around. Took the shop foreman for a ride and diagnosed it as a right rear wheel bearing. Brought it in the next week and she's now quiet.<p>This was with about 10.5k on the clock too <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/frown.gif" BORDER="0"><p>My guess would be a bearing. Take 'em for a ride <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/wink.gif" BORDER="0">
